The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe’s shape has the chiseled beauty normally reserved for European cathedrals. The engine produces the sort of fury they write about in the Bible. The docility with which it handles is nothing short of a miracle, and the price is not so much a bargain as a gift to all mankind.

The question remains whether buyers of high-performance cars that cost substantially more will find the CTS-V’s stunning performance a compelling reason to change their loyalties. Those potential buyers should get behind the CTS-V’s wheel. We bet it’ll open eyes.

Take your blood pressure medicine, folks – the CTS-V Coupe is here. And it does a lot more than simply zig or zag – it utterly dominates the high-powered sports coupe segment.

The CTS-V is a lot of money for a Cadillac, but you’re getting a world-class performance car with looks that you will never, ever see coming from Germany, Japan, or South Korea

The Cadillac CTS-V coupe is the best kind of excess. It’s fast, refined, and comfortable. The steering is feelsome and responsive, the chassis possessed of nimble reflexes that belie the car’s weight. The seats are comfortable, the interior decently crafted.

Finally, an answer to the onslaught of crossovers and SUVs we’ve come to expect from domestic automakers. Cadillac has one of the few performance vehicles that can suit the needs of an entire family without giving up the driving experience an enthusiast craves.

Soon, the CTS-V Sport Wagon’s going to end up at the Nurbürgring and it’s going to put down a time close enough to the sedan to prove a little added weight and a lot of extra sex appeal don’t contribute to anything less than the world’s most fearsome production station wagon.

If it weren’t for the poor fuel economy, the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe would work well as both a weekend racer and a daily commute car, combining exceptional sport performance with practical cabin tech.

Public perception aside, the emotions are what matter, and the emotions are nice. The CTS-V coupe makes me proud to come from this country, proud to not be evil. It’s a kid-hauling Corvette for the person who wants a fun, fast car with no stigmas or strings attached.

The bottom line is that nothing on the road in the same price range can match the CTS-V Coupe’s raw speed and radical looks. If those are your priorities, this car is definitely worth inspecting.

The Coupe is priced heads-up with the sedan at $62,990 plus a mandatory gas-guzzler charge. It really has no competition in the marketplace, so if you want one, feel free to take the plunge. I’d buy the wagon and pay the 200-pound weight penalty, since the Coupe is tight for me.
