The E-Class Cabriolet is the very definition of exceptional. During my road test I was utterly unable to find anything wrong with the car, this veritable marvel of German engineering. Mercedes-Benz may just have found the recipe for automotive perfection.

As much as I might hate to admit it, the Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet proved a bona fide head-turning standout in this city’s trend-setting enclaves of Sex-and-the-City cool.

The lack of the 6.3-liter AMG V8 is about the only complaint I can muster against the E-Class Convertible. Its chiseled lines are absolutely arresting. A six-hour drive in the car aptly demonstrated the interior is the very definition of both comfort and luxuriousness.

Top up or down, the E550 has giggle-making acceleration—4.6 seconds to 60 mph. For a convertible, the ride verges on perfection—it’s inappropriate to even bring up the term cowl shake. On a good road, it’s like riding on glass.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz E550 convertible is enjoyable to drive and extraordinarily engineered. Though especially enjoyable with the top down, this car can be practically used in four-season climates because it’s so solidly built.

The E550 successfully blends traditional Mercedes prestige and comfort with open-air excitement. At top-down touring speeds, the Aircap system renders the back seat as comfortable as the front seat in other cars.

Mercedes-Benz has massaged its already-impressive E-Class coupe into a perfect all-season cabriolet by ripping the roof off the sucka. Not as dynamically satisfying as a BMW 335i despite its stout handling and excellent road manners, the E-Class nonetheless offers a more premium overall experience.

Our nod goes to the E-Class sedan. It’s comfortable, quiet, and as luxurious as you would expect a Mercedes-Benz to be.

Mercedes-Benz delivered an E-Class convertible that performs well, but is, most importantly, comfortable to cruise in. The cabriolet has its faults though.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon it drives incredibly well, has all the ooh-la-la extras you’d want in a $70,000 Benz, but even more importantly, it sports one of the best automotive inventions for families of all times: the rear-facing jump seat. Oh, did I mention it has all-wheel drive?
