Overall, in our opinion, the 2010 Golf TDI certainly offers best-in-class interior quality and overall design. With its starting MSRP of $22,354, it offers phenomenal bang-for-the-buck.

The Volkswagen Golf TDI is enjoyable to drive, with plenty of power driving around town or merging on to fast-moving freeways, plenty of space for my family, and plenty of maneuverability. I liked it enough to consider buying it for my own vehicle. And that says a lot.

The 2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI is as close to guilt-free as you can get behind the wheel. The diesel hatch can now embarrass hybrids at the pump while delivering great handling and grin-inducing torque.

The Golf TDI is one of the best cars of 2009 and should be on any list if you are in the market for a fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive car. It has a load of low-end power that’s generally missing from the hybrids on the market today.

With an interior well ahead of the competition, smart exterior styling and one of the most efficient diesel engines on the market, the 2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI is hard to fault.

Simply put: The new Golf TDI is a class-leading hatchback with a class-leading engine. The added cost of a diesel motor pays for itself quickly in highway driving, and the car’s refinement is hard to match.

With a low starting price, 42 MPG highway fuel economy, sharp looks, seriously nice interior and a responsive chassis, this new Golf TDI makes more expensive cars look frivolous and direct rivals look behind the times.

With the 2010 Golf TDI, VW makes a compelling argument that diesels can provide the power and performance Americans love with the fuel economy we claim to want. It’s EPA fuel economy rating exceeds all non-hybrids on the road except the Smart ForTwo.

The Volkswagen Golf TDI is an attractive wagon, both in its proportions and cargo capacity as well as its driving enjoyment. And Volkswagen has even thrown in a clean, thrifty engine.

The 2010 Golf TDI does seem a bit dear. Then again, diesel thrift doesn’t get much more affordable, and for the money, it doesn’t get to be any more fun to drive.

A $1300 government tax credit is currently available on VW diesels. Should the first U.S. Golf TDI drive anything like this Euro car we just may be filling out some adoption paperwork ourselves.
